Together towards success
Chaffinch Brook caters for children who have a diagnosis of ASD and related challenging behaviour. Located in Morland Road, Chaffinch Brook Lower School is a welcoming and therapeutic, ASD specific environment for 36 primary age children, whilst Chaffinch Brook Upper School, based in Monks Orchard Road, caters for 18 secondary age pupils. Whilst we share this site with Beckmead Lower and Upper School, we have a dedicated team trained in working with ASD pupils who work in discreet classrooms to ensure that we continue to offer outstanding ASD practice on this site. Chaffinch Brook offers outreach support and advice to mainstream schools which are experiencing difficulty with children who have ASD and challenging behaviour.
We aim to provide a nurturing and structured, calm learning environment which supports our pupils to develop self-belief and a positive attitude towards learning. We believe that children who have autism can learn, make progress and succeed with committed and knowledgeable good autism practice. It is important to us that our pupils feel happy, safe and included in the school community, so powerful teamwork and strong, empathic relationships are the cornerstones of our approach.
We are very proud to have received the award for ‘Special School of the year 2015’ in Croydon. We welcome visitors to the school so please contact us if you would like to arrange a visit.
